October is Gaucher Awareness Month.
During the month of October, show your support for the Gaucher community by wearing green shoelaces. As a commonly overlooked disease, this will help promote awareness and unity in the fight against Gaucher, and most importantly, get people to notice this rare disease!
Gaucher disease is a rare inherited disorder caused by a deficiency in a particular enzyme. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 40,000 to 60,000 people in the general population have this disease. From bone pain and severe fatigue to life-threatening complications, it is challenging for patients and caregivers to cope with Gaucher. Learn more about Gaucher disease.
